Ankara is seriously trending all over the world and we can see people of different cultural backgrounds embracing this new trend. In Nigeria, celebrities wear Ankara to red carpet events and major event. Like most fabrics, the Ankara is versatile. It is used to make a variety of styles like tops, skirts, trousers, gowns and shorts. Most Nigerian Fashion designers have a line of Ankara dresses and accessories that can be worn on any western attire to suit any occasion; they make haute couture designs with Ankara and Amazing styles to suit everyone. These designers use the fabric to make cloths ranging from formal to casual to even swim wear and lingerie!!!! yes lingerie Men are also not left out; they rock Ankara jackets, tops, shorts & pants.

Manufacturers even make it easier these days, they now make stretchy Ankara. Because the Ankara is originally pure cotton, it gets very stiff at times making it difficult to make complex designs to get the desired outcome. It even gets better when mixed with other materials like silk, linen, Lycra, lace, cotton, brocade and even velvet. When mixed with other materials, it gives an elegant, modern “western” (if that’s your aim) look. You can make lovely dresses (short or long), pant trousers, jackets, name it.

Ankara will make you stand out, it also adds flavour to any outfit, any day any time, just think of any style and I promise you the Ankara will do just fine. Try it out!
